  The Green Committee

The Peachtree Corners Green Committee's mission is to enhance and preserve the city’s natural and built environments. The committee provides citizens, businesses, the mayor and council information necessary to make sound environmental decisions. Its focus areas are:

  1. Tree Canopy / Ordinance
  2. Promotion of Trail System
  3. Stream Quality Improvements
  4. Beautification
  5. Energy Conservation
  6. Waste Management

Established in 2014, the Green Committee has assisted in organizing city activity resulting in two important environmental certifications—Green Communities certification and Tree City USA designation.

Green Communities Program

The Green Communities Program is a voluntary certification program for jurisdictions in the 10-county Atlanta Region to encourage local governments to become more sustainable. The Atlanta Regional Commission developed the program to assist local governments in reducing their overall environmental impact. Peachtree Corners implemented battery recycling and energy conservation programs, and installed electric automobile charging stations at city hall.

Tree City USA

Peachtree Corners earned its Tree City USA designation in 2016 from the Georgia Forestry Commission and the Arbor Day Foundation.  The City of Peachtree Corners developed an urban forestry plan, adopted a tree ordinance, met specific tree and landscape spending levels and organized an Arbor Day event.
