Gwinnett County has begun construction on its first hotel-to-affordable-housing conversion, transforming the former Spring Swallow Lodge on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners into Crest Point Village, a 73-unit permanently affordable apartment community.
On Wednesday, February 25, Mayor Mike Mason and Councilmen Weare Gratwick, Eric Christ, and Joe Sawyer were on hand for the official groundbreaking ceremony. This project is the first of its kind in Gwinnett County.
Led by the Gwinnett Housing Corporation with nonprofit partners, the $14.5 million project will provide housing primarily for two underserved groups: young adults ages 18–24 aging out of foster care (45 units) and seniors 55+ living on limited fixed incomes (28 units).
Units will be modern studio and one-bedroom apartments with full kitchens, and residents will receive supportive services such as job training, financial counseling, health screenings, and on-site case management. County leaders say the project demonstrates that affordable housing can maintain high quality while addressing homelessness and housing instability.
Crest Point Village is expected to open in fall 2026 and may serve as a model for similar redevelopment projects across Gwinnett County.
