A 34-year resident of Peachtree Corners, Council Member Lorri Christopher brings many years of leadership in business, education, and community service.
A principal in CAP Associates LLC, a human resources consulting firm, retiring in 2012 from Gwinnett Technical College as a CIS Faculty Program & IA Director. Lorri is an adjunct faculty member, and a Trustee of the Gwinnett Senior Leadership program. A former IT Project Manager for the 1996 Olympics, she managed, recruited, planned, trained, and coordinated technology volunteers and vendor education needs for game venues.
First career as a high school math and science teacher; she became MIS director and CIS program chair at Trident College. Additional career stops were COO of Atlanta Desktop; co-president of United Mortgage Company; Marketing Director of Right Associates; a VP, Midland Associates, and VP, Finance & MIS for Edwards, Inc. Earlier, she held marketing and technical leadership positions at DCA and Burroughs/Unisys, working worldwide. She was a Founding Director of Paces Bank & Trust.
An alumnus of Leadership America, Leadership Atlanta, and Senior Leadership Gwinnett, President of The International Alliance and GEWN, Lorri was Chair of the Georgia Council on Vocational Education, the Employment & Training Council, and the Georgia 21 Commission. Lorri is a recipient of the 21st Century Award from The International Alliance, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s DECA award, the Triumph Inspiration 21st Century Woman Award, and a member of the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers.
Lorri served on the leadership committee for the Center for the Study of the Presidency, chaired Gwinnett County March of Dimes, and served on the Georgia Alliance for Children Board. She is a member of the Gwinnett, Hispanic, SWGC, and Atlanta Chambers, TAG, Gwinnett Village Alliance Board member, a past officer of Fox Hill HOA, and a member/volunteer for UPPCA, PCBA, and the Peachtree Corners Festival. She is also President Elect of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody and a community volunteer.
Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Information Systems at Nova Southeastern University, Lorri holds an MBA in Business and Finance, Emory University, an MBA in Global Ecommerce, Georgia State University, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Chemistry, State University of New York, and additional graduate studies in CIS, Georgia Tech and Education, Hofstra University. She holds a number of professional certifications.
Lorri and deceased husband, Larry, have four children and eight grandchildren.
