A resident of Peachtree Corners for over 25 years, Ora B. Douglass was elected as the first African American female Councilwoman in November 2023.

Ora is a retired registered nurse who earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida A&M University and a Master of Nursing Administration Degree at Emory University. Ora is a veteran commissioned officer of the US Army Nurse Corps. 

She has worked at numerous hospitals in the Atlanta area including Emory University, Grady Hospital, and Northside Hospital as VP of Quality and Risk Management, she served as Director of Community Home Based Nursing at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ora is very dedicated to and passionate about community service. In 2014, Ora led a group of members in chartering the Psi Omega Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Chapter in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, where she served as President for over four years.  

In 2016, Ora established The Georgia Pearls of Service (GPOS) Foundation in Peachtree Corners, where she currently serves as the group's President. 

Both organizations provide community service in Peachtree Corners and fundraise annually to provide scholarships to high school students and donations to selected community service organizations.

Ora also serves on the Board of the Robert D. Fowler YMCA and is a member of the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club. 

Ora is married to Dr. Adrian Douglass, and they have four children and 3 grandchildren.
